It can also be put into Valet/Service mode for temporary operation (with defined parameters like a 30mph speed limit) to allow you to transfer your vehicle to a valet service or for servicing without the need to enter a pin code.

Standard factory immobilisers for automobiles function through a transponder inside the key that transmits an electronic signal to the ECU. The device is hidden in the vehicle's wiring and doesn't emit any radio signals, which means it cannot be recognized by criminals with diagnostic software that can identify the security system you have installed. This makes it a great alternative to a tracker.
Contrary to other security systems which use a relay in engine bays, immobilisers using CAN communicate via databus (brand dependent) with the ECU and BCM of the car. This allows them to disable the vehicle completely by sending an electronic block of commands for both the ECU and the engine.
It is also possible to connect a separate analog immobiliser, alarm or tracker to these systems but this must be specified before installing the device. It communicates directly to your cars ECU (Engine Control Unit) via the CAN data circuit. It's completely silent since it doesn't use radio frequency or key fobs. It can't be detected by diagnostics or any other hacking device. It also shields against the possibility of adding an additional key or replacing the ECU to bypass the system, since only the correct PIN code can allow the engine to start.

This is the first aftermarket CAN-bus immobiliser for the market that has been developed. It will prevent your vehicle from being driven or started if you don't enter a PIN number first. If the device is activated and you try to drive away, it will display a warning on your dash which will flash regularly for around 300m. If you type in your PIN code at this point, it will disarm the anti-hijack device and your car will continue to drive just as normal. If you don't enter your PIN code at this time the indication will continue to flash and will require a new PIN code for every attempt to start your vehicle.
